Tread Depth |
Tread Depth Grade and Performance Characteristics |
>6/32 |
Tread has optimal characteristics |
5/32 |
Tread has marginal handling, diminished wet traction, limited snow and ice traction. Action: Use with caution in winter driving conditions. Drive carefully. |
4/32 |
Low tread has poor acceleration and snow/ice traction. Wet/dry braking is diminished. Action: Tire replacement is recommended for winter driving conditions. |
3/32 |
Tread has little or no snow/ice traction. Wet/dry braking is poor with loss of control at highway speeds. Stopping distances are greatly increased. Action: Seriously consider tire replacement. |
2.5/32 |
All tread properties are worn away. Tire at all speeds is at risk of losing control. Tire is dangerous - should not be driven. Action: Replace tire immediately. |
